Sad News

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — In a move that doesn't bode well for hunting and shooting enthusiasts, U.S. Repeating Arms Co., the makers of Winchester firearms, announced that they would be closing the New Haven, Conn., factory, ending a 140-year history in the state.

According to plant manager Paul DeMennato, the company is selling about one-third as many guns as it did just three years ago. The problem, said DeMennato in the article, is the overall decline in the market for rifles and shotguns made by the New Haven plant, not a loss of market share for the Winchester brand in general. As the New Haven plant doesn't produce handguns or firearms for the military, they are particularly susceptible to the drop in market demand.

There you have it my friends, The end of one of the finest shotgun producers in the good ole' US of A. Take someone hunting and then make them buy a Winchester. I've got some, you get some too.
